Race time!!

Race to 40,000....

Shariware you are welcome to join us (I'm afraid we have a slight head start, but you have flying fingers, so I'm not sure who should be more worried actually).

Garnet Gal (Clementine) and RamblingAllen are racing to 40,000 words.  Allen beat me to 30,000 by the skin of his teeth!!!  I'm not planning to slack off this time, but I do have a lot on my plate the next 48 hours or so.

Here is hoping Allen can't find the time to write any more easily than I can this weekend!!

And we're off!!.......................

  1. I will definitely try, but I have an awful lot of work to do this weekend with a deadline looming on Monday - they do say sleep is highly overrated?!!

Sunday it's coffee in the a.m.(I havent forgotten) I have a little time before 4 in the after noon then its jeris birthday party, my sister is coming from out of town at 6p.m. then off to colfax early monday morning. So it looks like tonight is it. 5k words tonight, I can do that, where's the Scotch?

  3. Is it true? Is it really true? I have this horrible feeling that one of you did actually make it before me but didn't update your word count? It definitely looks like I got there first, but am definitely confused since Allen has less than 400 words to go? I think I need someone to definitely confirm this for me, although I was so excited I posted a status on FB claiming to be the winner before the doubt started to settle in lol!! Hope I don't end up with egg on my face!

  4. SHARI!! Holy word count!! Awesome job, I know I stopped 400 words short, I thought I would have time to pick them up today(which i will). A coffee for you is definately in order, but unfortunately we can't exactly go to the local starbucks can we. I think Clementine has got something figured out though.
I completly spaced it this morning while we were having coffee but I was going to propose our next challenge, or perhaps the challenge after the next one. Tell me what you guys think.
When we reach a word count of approx. 45-48k we should start a final challenge. 3+/- days without counting words AT ALL. (so the story doesnt suffer from arriving at 50k before the end) Do a final word count after the 3 days, who ever has the most words total WINS.
Some HIGH stakes are certainly in order, or just bragging rights. Give it some thought let me know what you think.
We are all in the home stretch with 9 days left to go. Personally I would like to see 50k before the weekend, perhaps the final challenge should be next weekend reguardless of word count, just a thought.
Anyway, we are all about 80% to 50k and we are 70% through the month. Looks like great numbers to me!!
Good Luck, one more big push and we are there!

  5. I'll participate in any challenge - it has really helped me to push beyond even my personal goals at times when I thought that it all seemed quite impossible. I will find that one hard though, as I have approached my novel from a very structured 5000 words per chapter basically, since we only had to get to 50000 and I am always such a procrastinator I usually only aim for the bare minimum in order to achieve the desired result lol!! On the most part, I have managed to stick to the 5000 words per chapter that I mapped out, give or take one or two chapters. Therefore, I really don't know how I will go. However, now that you have put that out there and I am so close to 50000, I will figure out some more things that I can put in my story and I am sure that the end result will be better for it.

Glad you guys had coffee and still can't believe I made it before you guys and actually managed to get a good night's sleep last night which is great considering today is Monday!

Hope you guys get some writing in today!
